Funk Rabbit, Ink

ABOUT

Funk Rabbit, Ink lives in the sweet spot between freelance design and a full-scale branding agency.

For many growing companies, building a brand means assembling a team piece by piece—designers, developers, copywriters, photographers, and production vendors—often resulting in inconsistent execution and fragmented communication.

Funk Rabbit, Ink provides a more streamlined alternative.

I partner with brands to develop cohesive, high-quality identities across every touchpoint—from brand strategy and visual identity to websites, product packaging, photography, copywriting, and production.  Every element is created with a unified vision, ensuring consistency, clarity, and impact.

In addition, I work directly with trusted vendors and production partners, managing projects end-to-end and serving as a single point of contact throughout the entire process.

I come from a background in mechanical engineering, where I developed a strong foundation in problem-solving and a deep interest in sustainable design.  That mindset has carried directly into how I approach branding.

Sustainable branding isn’t just about aesthetics – it’s about building something effective, efficient, and built to last.  It should be affordable, impactful, and designed to create positive influence for the business, the people it reaches and the environment we all share.

My engineering background continues to shape my process.  Before launching Funk Rabbit, Ink over a decade ago, I also led the art department for a promotional distributorship, gaining hands-on experience in how design translates into real-world production.  That combination—analytical thinking and practical execution—drives how I approach every project.

Branding should solve real problems.  If it doesn’t position a company to capture the business it’s after, it’s not working.  My process is grounded in market research, strong design principles, and real-world application—ensuring that what we create doesn’t just look good, but performs across packaging, print, and digital environments.

What’s with the name?

“Funk Rabbit” started as a nickname during my engineering career, when I’d take time off to busk and play street music in Knoxville, Tennessee.  I played funky bass guitar, moved around a lot… the name stuck.

At the time, much of my identity was tied to professionalism, performance, and academic achievement.  Over time, through the combination of playing music in public and my career, I realized those things mattered less than something simpler:  Being real, bringing energy, and genuinely enjoying the work.  It’s infectious.

When I started the company, “Ink” became a double meaning—representing both the craft itself and a different kind of business philosophy.  It’s inspired in part by the Japanese concept of ikigai, often described as “a reason for waking.”  The idea that the most meaningful work sits at the intersection of what you’re good at, what you enjoy, and what contributes something of value to others.  That is the foundation for everything I offer.

If you have a project you’re interested in, I’d love to hear about it.  Please fill out my contact form and I’ll get back to you shortly!
